Noah's Rooftop Bar & Grill Kansas City, Kansas 4pm
Noah is sitting at his desk, looking over some documents and clicking on his laptop and seems to have a confused look on his face.
“These figures don’t seem to match…” Noah mumbled to himself as he continued searching through the mound of data. “Nope, the figures just don’t match.”
Noah grabs the phone and presses a button.
“Yes Noah?” Kimberly answers.
“Send Joey up here immediately.” Noah demanded.
“Right away boss.” Kimberly quickly replied. “Oh and boss…”
“Yes Kimberly?” Noah replied coldly.
“Don’t forget your interview with that wrestling magazine.” Kimberly reminded Noah.
“Thanks Kim I almost forgot.” Noah thankfully replied.
“Just doing my job boss, keeping you running on all cylinders.” Kimberly gleefully replied.
Noah hand neglected his bar a lot over the last few months but he thought he had someone he could trust to run the show in his absence. Joey Cavorte had been a family friend for years and Noah had never had a problem with him, know him for years, was in Joeys wedding party. It was something that was a bit bothersome to the man to see someone that he trusted so much to finally figure out what kind of man he really is. Seems to be nothing more then a common thief. But stealing from his friend is something that you just shouldn’t do in the grand scheme of things and that is why Noah wants to talk to him and see if he can make some sense out of it all. He really did not want to believe that someone he trusted would be doing something like that but sometimes friends are not always the friends that they seem to be, kinda like a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Not that Noah hasn’t seen that happen to him before, its nothing unusual, and he should not be thrown by the fact that someone may thrust a knife deeply into his back, to be perfectly honest Noah really has no room to talk about crap like that in the first place cause he has stabbed more then a few friends of his own in the back and then twisted the knife for maximum damage.
A knock is heard at the door and Joey peaks his head in. “You wanted to see me boss?”
Noah motioned for Joey to come in the office. “Close the door behind you.”
Joey comes in and closes the door and Noah motions for him to sit down in a chair across from his desk. Joey sits down and looks puzzled as Noah gets up.
“Can I get you a drink?” Noah asked as he pulled a bottle of Lipton White Tea with Raspberry out and took a drink. Joey shook his head ‘No’ and Noah shrugged his shoulders and leaned against the window overlooking the dance floor. “Suit yerself.”
“What is this all about Noah?” Joey nervously asked.
“We’ve known each other for years right?” Noah asked.
“Of course we came from the same neighborhood.” Joey replied, still a bit confused.
“See in the old days, when someone was caught skimming money or fudging some of the books they would break the man or womans hand as to show that person a lesson and to make sure that those hands are not going to be able to skim money anytime soon.” Noah said as he turned to Joey.
“What are you getting at?” Joey asked.
“I am just wondering how long you thought you could get away with skimming money off the top of the books?” Noah asked as he turned to his friend.
“I…I…I don’t know what yer talking about.” Joey stammered.
Noah walked over to his desk and grabbed the paperwork and tossed it all in his lap. “It’s all there in black and white, the writing there is pretty cut and dry, after I left you in charge and was gone for the last three months profits should have been higher but as you can clearly see they barely move and when I looked over the charts and the receipts it clearly shows A LOT of money is missing.”
Joey looks over the paperwork and starts to get a worried look on his face.
“Why? If you needed money man I could have helped you man. I know your family, I was at your pops funeral, I just don’t it man why would you do this to me?” Noah angrily remarked.
“You’re always so full of yourself, always thinking that everything revolves around Noah Hanson and his perfect little life. To be honest I thought I could get away with it for as long as possible, to be brutally honest I didn’t think you cared enough about this club to notice a little bit of money missing here or there.” Joey crudely explained. “You don’t deserve the bar, it deserves better, to be blunt it deserves me.”
“You want it so bad? Is that right? How bout you buy it from me make me a damn offer right now!?” Noah yelled.
“I…I…” Joey stammered again.
“What?” Noah cut in. “What you don’t have THAT kind of money? I get it now you’re jealous. Should have figured as much, people always covet what they can’t have.”
“f##k YOU!” Joey yelled. “You’re an bo-bo orafice, always have been, can’t stand you sometimes yer damn ego and everything. f##kING kill me NOW!”
Noah dropped his head slightly and sighed. “Just consider what you stole from me severance pay, pack your crap up and get out today.”
Noah pressed a button on his phone and a knock followed soon there after and Bobby the head of security walked in.
“Boss?” Bobby asked as he entered the room.
Noah motions to Joey. “Make sure he clears out his locker and leaves immediately, he has been fired and is banned from ever stepping foot on the property.”
Bobby glared at Joey and waited for him to get up.
“This ain’t over yet.” Joey barked.
“Yes it is…” Noah coldly replied.
Bobby led Joey out of the room and Kimberly budged in right behind him.
“Noah?” Kimberly asked. “You have a visitor.”
“Who?” Noah asked as he looked up from his laptop.
“Benny Tyler.” The man said as he walked in as Noah smiled briefly and got uip and greeted him with a firm handshake.
“What brings Wrestling Midwest number one reporter all the way out here Kansas City?” Noah asked. “Can I get you a drink?”
“Scotch on the rocks?” Benny asked.
Noah nodded to Kimberly and she winked at Noah and then left.
“As for why I am here, word is going around Cleveland that another company is coming through the area and they are doing a show at Gund Arena. I got a copy of the card and funny thing is I saw your name on the lineup.” Benny explained. “So I decided to see what one of WMW’s most controversial and well known stars is doing these days. Hell I had heard rumors that you had sent feelers to Brad Johnson to see if you might be able to get some airtime there.”
“Yeah I was looking to try and get back to my roots but I was not sure how the staff or the roster would react to me showing up again. I mean I did not get along with everyone and just wanted to see how things were and test the waters a bit.” Noah replied as Kimberly brought Benny his drink.
“Cleveland will always be a second home ya know that right? Regardless of anything, you always drew people to the seats, hated; loved whatever but the fact remains is that you put people in the seats. I imagine you are still doing that for whatever this fed is now.” Benny added.
“Did Garvin put you up to this?” Noah asked.
Benny shook his head and then took a sip from his glass. “You know better then that, I am one of the few people that told you things truthfully, never held anything back.”
Noah nodded. “I always respected you for that.”
“So what is this new company like?” Benny asked.
Noah shrugged his shoulders. “I dunno, I like the feel of the place, they have treated me well so far, not asking the world of me and just letting me do my own thing. Sometimes a little freedom is all a person needs in this business.”
“I hear ya. Does the place have talent?” Benny asked.
“Yeah a good base of talent, but I have managed to carve a bit of a name for myself in the brief time that I have been there.” Noah explained.
“Do you see yourself staying here for a while?” Benny asked.
“God willing and hopefully I don’t make to many big mistakes; ya know I made a few of those in the past.” Noah joked.
“People make mistakes Noah and maybe someday you and Garv can sit down and iron out the past.” Benny added.
“I try to not concern myself with the past too much, I have to much to look forward to right now. I have a match with one of nMw’s tag champions and I am looking to climb the ladder just a little bit more and get a few more people to turn their heads and realize that maybe Noah Hanson is not as bad as a few people have made him out to be.” Noah replied and then took a drink of his tea. “See people are so worried about trivial little things and not about what is in the bigger picture.”
“Do you ever miss the old days; I mean I am sure there are going to be some old Noah Hanson fans from your Wrestling Midwest days at this show?” Benny asked.
“I guess sometimes I miss the old days, but then again I don’t I don’t miss some of the guys backstage if you know what I mean. But again I am trying to focus more on the here and now bro.” Noah replied. My kid is all that matter at the moment…”
"What about the UWA? I hear that you have a big match there also?" Benny asked. "I really thought that you moonlighting in more then one fed was a thing of the past."
Noah nodded. "Yeah i have a match against some guy named Red Solomon. I really have no idea who the guy is and really don't care and to be honest he just needs to get the hell out of my way cause i have my sights set on the big prize as soon as the powers that be realize that i am a major player around here. I have beaten Redemption and The Masked Grappler and i still am doing the opening match...gotta love politics in wrestling..."
"Some things never change do they?" Benny asked.
"Yeah i guess so..."
